Sherwood Grant - Biography

A fit body has always been important to me, so I make sure to lead an active lifestyle. However, it wasn’t until 1999 that it materialized for me just how important healthy eating factored into the overall picture. This was the year I entered a worldwide fitness challenge. Now, I’ve always been perceived as having a muscular body, so I was expecting to just do some fine-tuning. In just 12 weeks by eating well-placed balanced meals, I was able to completely transform my physique. I researched the mechanics of the body and how nutrition played its part. It was then that I began to consider Health and Fitness as a career path. I saturated myself with information about the effects of good eating versus the ill-effects of poor eating. With the proper combination of eating and exercise, not only can you transform the appearance of your body, but also its overall health. It was then that I married my active living approach with that of healthy eating and incorporated myself as a health and fitness trainer.

I have obtained ISSA (International Sport Sciences Association) and FMS (Functional Movement Screening) certifications and continue to educate myself conventionally and holistically.  I have been recruited to speak at local seminars, Expos, CPS and Churches.  Some of my written works have been featured in local and national magazines.  I am an Independent Personal Trainer at John Hall Studios, a private training facility in Chicago’s west loop. I conduct fitness classes to educate and instruct clients on how to live active and healthy lifestyles. I also distribute a monthly newsletter on Health and Fitness that reaches thousands of people nationwide.
